Asay Media Network - About Us

We have seen the growth of the aftermarket first hand. In the 1980s when I started my business, demand for aftermarket products existed but many companies didn't realize the value of used, reconditioned, or remanufactured equipment and they were reluctant to even try to sell it. Realizing this after extensive research, I decided to start a publication to serve these customers. The first issue of Locator Magazine was published in March 1987. Our target was and still is to put buyers and sellers together, with our focus on office machines and business equipment that print on paper. The buyers responded to the sellers in such a big way that they didn't have enough inventory to satisfy the demand. It created a new kind of business, increased the market size, and reduced the amount of equipment, parts and supplies that were sent to landfills and recycled as scrap.

Locator Magazine Logo

Founded in 1987, Asay Media Network is the publisher of the original Locator Magazine. It was first published in March 1987 to serve the aftermarket in the office machine and business equipment industry. Initially widely accepted and it grew each month for over 120 months. In 1991, the International Locator was added and circulated through the U.S. State Department of Commerce Table Top Shows around the world. In addition, we exhibited in Mexico, Europe, South America and Canada.

Today, Locator Magazine is published each month in a digital edition to serve the office machine, supply, business equipment, used office machine and equipment dealers, technicians, service vendors and suppliers in the United States and Puerto Rico. International Digital Editions are published in English and Spanish. The Locator can be used as a regular source of where to find new and used office machines, business equipment, parts and supplies, software and services.

Locator Magazine is an award winning publication. In 1995, Asay Media Network was named one of INC 500's fastest growing companies. Asay was given the Excellence in Business Award by the Missouri Small Business Development Centers and the Joplin City Council also named them Industry of the Month.

OMBE.com, owned by Asay Media Network, is a site targeted specifically to buyers and sellers of office machines, business equipment, supplies and services. Since 1999, OMBE has targeted three main categories: copiers, printers, supplies and related products.

OMBE.com offers more features to buyers and sellers in the office equipment industry than any other website. You can contact our sellers directly to obtain complete information about their products and services.

As a buyer, our navigational menus and search features will allow you to quickly locate products and services that you are interested in, by brand, new, used or remanufactured (or other) condition, by seller's name or company, even allowing you to specify a geographic area by zip code.

As a seller the tremendous flexibility and control you have over your listings and display ads allows you the opportunity to sell in a surprising number of ways. Built-in controls, optional packages and special "add-ons" allow you to conform your listings to a style that fits your business model and sales philosophy.

Registration is free, so sign up today and enjoy the benefits of participating in one of the fastest growing sites in the industry.

The Copier Network Logo

The Copier Network originated in October 1994. It was operated by Dan Stevens of Annapolis, Maryland, who worked for 10 years in copier sales and service, most of it in service as a field technician. The website was built as a place for technicians to exchange information about copiers and quickly grew to include printer, fax and other user groups.

In May 1999, in an effort to keep the community thriving, Stevens approached Asay Media Network with the opportunity to acquire The Copier Network. Since then, Asay has provided several major revisions of the site with the latest major update installed May 2012. This newest update provides many new tools, features and additional content to serve the copier industry.

The Copier Network truly is a community for industry professionals. This is your site to exchange information with one another and help each other find solutions.

The Printer Network Logo

When Asay Media Network acquired The Copier Network from Dan Stevens in 1999, the website was built for technicians to exchange information about copiers, with some traffic in printers, faxes, and other office machines.

Roger Asay also purchased The Printer Network domain, knowing that in a matter of time this website would be activated as an outgrowth of the original Copier Network. Within five years the printer entries multiplied until they became sufficient for their own forum network.

The Printer Network was activated in the summer of 2004 as a community for industry professionals. It is a site for the exchange of information on technical questions dealing with printers, including large/wide-format, and for technicians to help each other find solutions.

In March 2012 we installed a major upgrade to The Printer Network that provides many new features and content. We hope you find the new tools and news items helpful.

We encourage forum members to explore and become familiar with the new features.

The Recyclers' Network Logo

The Recyclers Network is a community for remanufacturers and other professionals who work in the aftermarket of business machines and consumables. It offers categories for discussions of industry topics and specific manufacturer concerns, as well as free posting for members in categories addressing cartridges, inkjets, ribbons, and service issues.

The Recyclers Network is currently operated and moderated by Asay Media Network, owned by Roger Asay, founder of Locator Magazine.

Toward the end of 2003, Asay was approached by Richard Ash. He wanted to know if Asay had any interest in purchasing Recyclers Forum, an online networked community that Ash owned. Ash was anxious to ensure that the forum would continue its leadership position and service to its members, since he had spent many years building up the features and traffic.

After adding state-of-the-art software and configuring custom features for the Asay-based website, the company activated Recyclers Forum: The One That Started the Talk . Since 1997, replacing "Your Portal for the Imaging Industry," in March 2004. The site was formally introduced at the I-ITC tradeshow and convention in April 2004 at Miami, FL.

Many of our members are leaders in the cartridge recycling green movement. Compatibles have also become more prevalent with increased demand for recycled cartridges.

We remain committed to providing the best, easiest to use, most feature-rich forum of its kind on the Internet. In April 2012, we introduced a major upgrade with many new features and additional content. At the same time we changed from "RecyclersForum.com" to "TheRecyclersNetwork.com" to better reflect the site's proper place in our network of forums that includes TheCopierNetwork.com and ThePrinterNetwork.com.
